Smith Institute of Ichthyology; No. 30, A new species of jawfish, Opistognathus margaretae, is described from six specimens from the coasts of Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa and Madagascar. Diagnoses, synonymies and illustrations are given for O. nigromarginatus and O, muscatensis, and a key to the three species of jawfishes from southern Africa is presented.
