- Description
- Online version of original print edition of the Special Publication of the J.L.B. Smith Institute of Ichthyology; No. 18, Pavoclinus myae n.sp. is described from seven specimens collected off the eastern Cape Province, South Africa. The combination of a separate and high anterior section of the dorsal fin, a narrow caudal peduncle, vomerine teeth and fin counts separates P. myae from the eight other members of the genus. The validity of Pavoclinus graminis and P. laurentii was examined and confirmed. New distinguishing features were found, as characters previously used to differentiate these two species were unreliable.
